PALovian of the Week!!

After a few weeks off, we thought its about time we had a new PALovian of the week and we looked no further than our brilliant finance team and in the direction of Mr Oliver Gatley Smile

Hi Ollie, thanks for being this week’s PALovian, can you explain exactly what you do here at PAL?
I work in accounts payable and look after the supplier accounts, watching the outgoings and paying the bills

What has been your biggest achievement?
Not losing it completely haha erm no I would say getting on top of a massive invoice backlog and finishing my first year of AAT (an accountancy course) in a few months

What is the best thing about working for PAL?
The people I work with!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go first and why?
I would say South Beach Miami because I went as a kid and I loved it. Now I am over 21, so I could ideally sit by the pool or south beach all day with vodka & lemonades then hit the clubs at night and meet some nice American girls!
Accents do it for me!

Tell us 2 interesting facts about yourself
I have owned a dangerous pet spider and a boa constrictor snake, don’t ask why!
I have also just started boxing again and I will be getting fit and competing at amateur level this year. Unfortunately This means spending a lot more time away from the pub and more time going on long runs and in the gym at the weekends.

Tell us your most embarrassing moment
There’s been quite a few but I have chosen this one as its more reader friendly! My mum went away a few years ago and I didn’t know how to use the dishwasher, I was not aware that you put an actual tablet thing in it, so I filled the dishwasher, and poured a shed load of fairy liquid in side. Few hours later, I came down to the kitchen to find I had caused a big flood of foam and bubbles! I am a bit more erm home wise now and I’m learning. I can whip up a good stir fry, its tidy!

If you knew today was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it and why?
I would spend it with my son, family and friends. It would have to be sunny – 25 degrees plus, with Peroni on Tap. Also I would have to have a lamb madras with chips and pilau rice. I don’t ask for much in life!  P.S Also if it was my last day on earth I would also take  a Porsche 911 for a joyride for an hour!

Thanks Ollie!! Smile

PALovian of the Week!!!

This week, after much hassle off the woman herself, we choose Jodie to be this week’s PALovian!

Hi Jodie! Can you explain exactly what you do here at PAL?
I mostly work on the content for various websites, so that means blogging, copywriting and coming up with fun stuff for infographics.

What has been your biggest achievement?
Getting this job when I had zero experience or qualifications in this sort of thing, a true rags to riches story. Shout out to Melldog for a dazzling character reference!

What is the best thing about working for PAL?
I get to write every day and have a laugh at the same time! Also there is sometimes cake, cake is good.

What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod/Spotify and why?
My most played song on iTunes is apparently Déjà vu by Beyoncé… I’m not even going to disclose my most played song on Spotify because it’s even more embarrassing than that. (Ed: It’s Starstruckk by 3OH!3 Ft Katy Perry!)

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet and why?
Probably Keith Richards, because I just read his book and it would be so cool to hear all the stories they couldn’t print. I bet he could teach me some good life lessons, and maybe he would let me braid his wispy pirate hair.

If you knew the world was ending tomorrow, how would you spend the day?
Well last time the world was supposed to end I went to Liverpool and had a wonderful time, so maybe I’d do that again as it seems to be a good omen.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you take and why?
My best mate Hezz, a vat of red wine and my phone so we could ring a taxi when she starts throwing up.

Thanks Jodie! We were very surprised that your topped played song wasn’t a Disney one!!

Hope you feel lots better now that you have had the chance to tell the world about the life of Jodie Grin

PALovian of the Week!!!!

So for this week’s PALovian we have one of our newest recruits, Stephen who works in our e-commerce department, mainly on thegoalkeeperco.com

Hi Stephen, thanks for being our PALovian of the week, here is your chance to tell all of PAL Hq all about yourself Grin So firstly can you explain exactly what you do here at PAL?
I work with Craig running the e-commerce sites, making sure TheGoalkeeperCo site is running smoothly. I also contribute articles to the Goalkeeper Magazine.

What has been your biggest achievement?
Biggest achievement so far is graduating from Leeds Met University in May.

What is the best thing about working for PAL?
The best thing about working here is being able to learn different roles and each day is never the same.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go first and why?
I would travel to Australia, never been and have a couple of mates who live out there who say it is amazing and would be good to see them again!

Tell us 2 interesting facts about yourself
About 3 weeks before starting at PAL, I had been in America coaching Football for 4 months over the summer got to around 12 states from New York down to Florida on the east coast which was pretty cool experience. (not sure if this one counts as a fact but) I have a season ticket at Man United, which takes up most weekends. Looking forward to a derby win on Sunday!

What’s your favourite and worst food?
Favourite food has to be the chicken wings from a place called Applebees in America, worst food has to be Mushrooms, can not stand the things.

If you knew today was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it and why?
Always wanted to get to the west coast of America so I’d go spend half a day in San Francisco and the other half in Vegas with all my mates and girlfriend.

Thanks a lot Stephen!! Smile
